Neighbourhood first: India delivers medical oxygen to Bangladesh
The Oxygen Express with 10 containers departed from Tatanagar in Jharkhand on Saturday and is expected to reach Benapol in Bangladesh tomorrow. This is the first time in history, Indian Railways delivered 200 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to Bangladesh.

Ashwini Vaishnaw directed the officials and staff of the Railway ministry to work in two shifts. The order stated that the first shift will start at 7 am and end at 4 pm while the second shift will start at 3 pm and end at 12 am in midnight.

Railways increases speed to 130kmph along Golden Quadrilateral-Golden Diagonal
Indian Railway enhanced the maximum speed to 130 kmph for 1280 km length out of 1,612 Km in Golden Quadrilateral - Golden Diagonal route. This covers the entire GQGD route over South Central Railway except Vijayawada - Duvvada section where signalling up-gradation work is in progress. Railways said that they have has utilized the opportunity of the COVID-19 induced lockdown period.

No more sleeper coaches in these trains, Railways makes big announcement
The track on the golden quadrilateral and diagonals are being upgraded to cater to a speed of 130 km/hr to 160 km/hour. The non-AC sleeper coaches will be replaced by AC coaches for the trains that will be running at a speed of 130 km/hour or above. "Very minuscule number is being planned only for future trains which would run those sectors having a running speed of 130 km/hour and above," said Railways.

The Indian Railways like every year is expecting an increase in the number of travellers as the festive season ahead has festivals like Dussehara, Navratri, Diwali and Bhai Duj.

Railways provided these facilities to passengers amid COVID-19: Details here
Plastic Bottle Crushing machines have been installed at 370 stations. Bio-toilets have been proliferated on coaching stock so that no human waste is discharged from coaches on to the track. Nearly, 2,44,000 bio-toilets have been fitted in around 69,000 coaches. Cleaning of coaches including toilets of trains is done at both ends including mechanised cleaning. On-Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) has been provided in nearly 1100 pairs of important long-distance Mail/Express trains for cleaning of coach toilets, doorways, aisles and passenger compartments during the run of the trains.

Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project gets cabinet approval
The project will be implemented by Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HRIDC) which is a joint venture company set up by the Ministry of Railways with Government of Haryana. As per the Ministry of Railways, Palwal, Nuh, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Sonipat districts of Haryana will be benefitted through this rail line. This will facilitate diversion of traffic not meant for Delhi thus decongesting NCR and will help in developing multimodal logistics hubs in Haryana State sub-region of NCR. It will also provide high-speed seamless connectivity of this region to Dedicated Freight Corridor network resulting in the reduction of cost and time of transportation for EXIM traffic from NCR to ports of India, making exports of goods more competitive. The project will connect unserved areas of the state of Haryana and will result in boosting economic and social activities in Haryana.
