Scenic Vande Bharat Train Routes: The Indian Railways' Vande Bharat trains have emerged as a go to options for luxury short-distance travel, and with the introduction of Vande Bharat Sleeper, the long-distance travel is also transforming. With 164 Vande Bharat trains in service, train travel has been transformed in India. There are many Vande Bharat trains that offer scenic journey en-route to their destinations. Here are five of them for you to explore: 

India has completed trials and certification of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. The first service will run on the Guwahati–Howrah route, offering fast, modern, and affordable long-distance travel.

New Trains For Bihar: Bihar has got four new trains today - one Vande Bharat, two Amrit Bharat and one Express Train. The trains are expected to boost connectivity to Punjab, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu from the poll bound state. Notably, Bihar is the only state at present with highest number of Amrit Bharat trains. Not only this, the Bikramshila - Katareah New Rail line and the Araria - Galgalia (Thakurganj) New Rail Line will enhance connectivity besides employment generations, as per the Ministry of Railways.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Launch Big Update: Indian Railways has recently carried out a successful trial run of the newly built Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, which is likely to be introduced on a long routes. Due to its premium design and features, the train became an instant hit among railway enthusiasts and passengers have been waiting for the introduction of the train. If you thought the Sleeper Vande Bharat Express you saw in trial images would soon be on the tracks, here’s a surprise — that prototype will not be launched for passengers. Indian Railways has decided to replace it with an upgraded version, aiming to deliver a more comfortable and passenger-friendly experience, reported News18. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the new Vande Bharat sleeper will be launched in September this year.

Vaishno Devi Katra To Srinagar In Just 3 Hours: In a major boost to regional connectivity and tourism, Indian Railways, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, is all set to launch the Vaishno Devi Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train. This high-speed train service promises to transform travel in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.  The journey will take passengers across the Chenab Rail Bridge—the world’s highest railway bridge—soaring 359 meters above the riverbed. With the completion of the Anji Khad Bridge and the Chenab Bridge, the Kashmir Valley is now connected to the rest of the country by train.   

Indian railway planned to combine Mumbai-Goa and Mangaluru-Goa routes to Mumbai to Mangaluru to enhance the passengers number. This will enable passengers to travel from Mumbai to Mangaluru in 12 hours.

Indian Railways has seen a significant shift in passenger revenue trends over the past five years. With an increasing preference for air-conditioned (AC) travel, revenue from AC classes is now projected to contribute more than half of the total passenger earnings. Indian Railways' BIG Feat: In a significant upgrade that will bring comfort, safety and reliability to passengers, the Indian Railways has significantly enhanced its semi-high speed operational capabilities. According to the Ministry of Railways, the public transporter has achieved a major milestone by upgrading over 23,000 track kilometers (TKM) of the Railways network to support train speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour (kmph). This remarkable progress underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure, improving connectivity, and reducing travel times for millions of passengers nationwide. With nearly one-fifth of India’s railway network now equipped for higher speeds, these advancements have been made possible through robust safety measures such as modern signalling systems and strategic fencing, marking a new era of efficiency and reliability in train travel.

India’s first bullet train project, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing the country's rail infrastructure. Using Japanese Shinkansen technology, this high-speed rail will operate at around 320-350 km/h, significantly reducing travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Spanning 508 km, the corridor is set to redefine rail travel in India, enhancing speed, efficiency, and passenger experience.

Jammu To Kashmir VB Train: Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has unveiled a video showcasing a new Vande Bharat Express train tailored for the Katra-Srinagar route. 

The timeline of the rollout of the train is subject to the successful completion of the trials. As of 02nd December 2024, 136 Vande Bharat train services are operational on the Broad Gauge electrified network of Indian Railways for short and medium-distance journeys across the country.

Northern Railway completes the challenging Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link, connecting Kashmir to the rest of India. 

Vande Bharat Trains: As many as 136 Vande Bharat train services were operational with enhanced safety features and modern passenger amenities as on November 21, the government has informed the Lok Sabha.

These modifications, including additional toilets, luggage zones, and a pantry car in each coach, are said to be complicating and prolonging the design process.   

The Vande Bharat is an Indian Railways special launch which features India's first engine-less trains, is now fully operational with trains running across the country. The first high-speed train was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019, from New Delhi.

The Indian Railway experiences a significant increase in ticket demand especially at times of festivals. To address this urgent demand, Indian Railways has announced the introduction of a special Vande Bharat Express train on the Patna-Delhi route. The Patna-Delhi Vande Bharat is all set to run from  October 30. The special Vande Bharat train will cover the distance from Patna to Delhi in about 11.5 hours. However, passengers should be aware that this service will not have sleeper accommodations, as it operates as a seated train.
