At least 15 Maoists, including top leader Anal Da carrying a Rs 1 crore bounty, were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Jharkhand’s Saranda forest.
Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, accused of orchestrating at least 26 violent attacks on security forces and civilians, was killed in a police encounter on Tuesday.
Four Naxals, including two women, were killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur and Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli. Security forces recovered arms, ammunition, and Maoist literature during ongoing search operations in the forest areas.
A Maoist with a Rs 10 lakh bounty was killed in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa during an encounter. Weapons were seized. The incident follows a deadly Maoist attack in Palamu, where two policemen were killed.
During post-surrender interrogation, DVCM doctor Sukhlal delivered a damning indictment of the Maoist leadership, stating that top cadre Maoist leaders are the biggest enemies of the tribal people.
According to reports, the attackers arrived in significant numbers between 4 and 5 p.m. and quickly surrounded the village.
Security forces conducted a major anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, killing seven Naxalites, including two top leaders, between June 5 and 7.
Naxal violence, which reached its peak with 1,936 incidents in 2010, dropped to 374 in 2024, 81 per cent reduction. The total number of deaths, including civilians and security forces, also declined by 85 per cent during this period, from 1,005 in 2010 to 150 in 2024.

Earlier today, 22 Naxals, including nine women, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Sukma in the presence of Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Gangaram Chavan.
Speaking on the encounter, an official said the bodies of three Naxalites and a cache of weapons and explosives were recovered from Bijapur.
On Saturday, security forces carried out an operation during the morning hours in the Upampalli area under the Keralapal police station jurisdiction.
One personnel of the Bijapur District Reserve Guard also lost his life during the encounter, police further stated. According to the police, the encounter got underway from 7 am today.
Amit Shah said in the direction of making India Naxal-free, the security forces have achieved a big success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the jawans are from Assam and Ladakh and are expected to recover soon.
SP Yadav said that several automatic and other weapons and explosives were from the forests under the National Park area of the Bijapur district.
According to Bastar Inspector General (IG) Sundarraj P, the jawans were returning from a joint operation of Dantewada, Narayanpur, and Bijapur police when the blast occurred.
Speaking on the incident, the official stated that the police team recovered a pamphlet from the Madded area committee of Maoists at the spot.
According to Chhattisgarh Police, the security forces conducted a search operation on Friday night.
During the encounter, police recovered three live AK-47 bullets, an AK-47 rifle, a country-made firearm, four mobile phones and a motorcycle.
