US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a post on X, said the move was a setback to regional stability and an insult to the victims of the October 7 Hamas attack.

“Peace is possible. And France, true to its historic role, will take this step in support of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East,” he said in a post on X.

Zelensky spoke with Macron ahead of Trump-Putin talks, focusing on Ukraine's ceasefire, peace, and security guarantees.

The long list of participants in Tuesday's discussions will also include Asian and Oceania nations that will join remotely, the French official said.
