Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) News
14 people were granted Citizenship certificiates under CAA 2019. This marks the beginning of the process of granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.
The first batch of the Sikh families are living in a gurdwara in Delhi. The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee is looking into the living arrangements for them.
KCR also further hinted towards joining hands with other parties to lead a nationwide campaign against CAA and appealed to the Supreme Court to take down the newly formed Act.
The lawmaker said that the states will have a vital part in the implementation of NPR and the proposed nationwide NRC.
The crowd mainly included people belonging to the Hindu Dalit community who have been living in Haryana and Delhi. JP Nadda later addressed the crowd and said that opposition knows nothing about CAA and are simply instigating people against it.
Khali said that the whole world knows what is happening in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh and so giving Indian citizenship to the persecuted minorities "is a very good thing".
A complaint has been filed against 3000 people for violently protesting and attacking the police force in the state. So far 48 people have been arrested in the matter.
The decision was taken in the wake of violent protests against the amended Citizenship law in Aligarh, Hathras and Firozabad.
Informing about the situation in the country, the statement further said that curfew had been imposed and internet, mobile communications were down.
Mobile services were restored in Assam on Friday nearly nine days after it was imposed on December 11 in the wake of violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Protests in Patna, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Jehanabad, Saharsa, Aara and Khagadia cities led to massive traffic snarls.
The petition also seeks that no FIRs be registered against the students and no coercive steps be taken against the FIRs already registered till the outcome of the fact-finding Committee’s report.
The Imam claimed that if all Muslims developed the sentiment that just a few share today, it will not be difficult to get their way. "If the sentiment that Muslims have today unites all the Muslims then we can get our way."
Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that the new Act will not affect any Indian citizen and no one-stop mislead people in the name of CAA. The prime minister also condemned the incident which took place in Delhi on Saturday (December 15) and said it is "unfortunate and deeply distressing".
The party leadership has issued an order to all the state units, asking party workers to reach out to the people and make them aware about the Act.
