Under the new formula, industries will receive up to 70 per cent of their LPG consumption levels recorded before March 2026.

The 5 Kg FTL cylinders are available at nearby LPG Distributorships and can be purchased by showing any valid ID proofs. 

The PSU firm further noted that it continues to work towards maintaining reliable and efficient energy access, aiming to support both households and businesses during the current period of uncertainty.

In a public advisory shared on X, the company urged consumers not to resort to panic buying or place unnecessary LPG bookings, stressing that supply lines remain stable despite concerns arising from tensions in West Asia and disruptions around key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

The state-run oil firm said operations remain steady and consistent with normal levels, even amid evolving geopolitical challenges.

The Finance Ministry has outlined steps spanning customs duty cuts for key raw materials, export incentives, fuel price controls, and financial support mechanisms, with a focus on ensuring stability across key sectors.

The April 1 price increase in commercial cylinder price is due to a 44 per cent surge in the Saudi Contract Price: from $542/MT in March to $780/MT for April, as 20-30 per cent of global LPG supplies are stuck in Strait of Hormuz, the statement added.

Meanwhile, more than 54 lakh LPG refills have been delivered till Saturday, and the delivery of domestic LPG cylinders is normal despite the prevailing geopolitical situation that has affected the supply chains. 

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has launched a new digital platform, MyPNG-D Portal, to make it easier for PNG users to give up their LPG connections online.

No Shortage Of Petrol In India: The company further clarified that the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure is part of India’s long-term clean energy strategy.

All refineries are operating at a high capacity with adequate crude inventories. While panic buying did occur in some areas due to rumours, the government has confirmed that all retail outlets are operating normally.  

The cylinders would carry updated labels clearly indicating the reduced quantity and prices adjusted accordingly, if implemented. 

The meeting, which will be attended by senior ministers, will focus on ensuring uninterrupted supply, stable logistics and efficient distribution of petroleum products across the country.

The government allocated additional 10 per cent of commercial LPG to States/UTs based on ease of doing business reforms for PNG expansion.  

These have been directed by PNGRB to shorten the timeline between the submission of applications and the commencement of gas supply to consumer households and pursue mass awareness initiatives.  

The Middle East inflows to India declined to just 89,000 mt in the week to March 19, representing only 34 per cent of total imports — the lowest share since January.

The latest hike comes amid rising energy costs, including LPG and crude oil, which have increased operating expenses for restaurants and delivery partners, prompting platforms to adjust pricing.  

While millions of households that depend on LPG cylinders are facing delays and short supply, those connected to piped gas at home are largely carrying on without disruption.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry's Joint Secretary, Marketing and Oil Refinery, Sujata Sharma, said during the regular briefing that petrol pumps have enough petrol and diesel stocks.
