In order to further simplify the GST return filing process, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that taxpayers having an annual turnover of less than Rs 5 Crore shall file only quarterly returns. Presenting Union Budget 2019 at the Parliament on Friday, she said the threshold exemption limit for a supplier of goods is proposed to be enhanced from Rs 20 lakh to an amount exceeding Rs 40 lakh.
In an effort to transform the education system in India, the Centre announced the New Education Policy to bring institutes at par to international level and focus on research and innovation, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during Union Budget 2019. A National Research Foundation will be formed to ensure the strengthening of the research ecosystem in the country.
Delivering the budget speech in Parliament today, the Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman stressed upon the need for heavy investment in infrastructure, digital economy and job creation in small and medium firms to fulfil the aspiration of making India a $5 trillion economy.
