Andhra Pradesh: Administration conducts drive to clean govt hospital where newborn died

The district administration conducted a special cleanliness drive at the state government general hospital, days after a newborn died due to multiple rodent bites inside the ICU of the hospital.

Guntur: The district administration conducted a special cleanliness drive at the state government general hospital, days after a newborn died due to multiple rodent bites inside the ICU of the hospital.

District Collector Kantial Dande personally led the drive yesterday in which around 500 employees of different departments participated.

They also repaired electronic equipment and demolished dilapidated walls of the hospital.

On August 26, a 10-day-old baby boy died after being bitten by rats in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Wounds were seen on the face and body of the newborn.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister K Srinivas had sought a report from the hospital in this regard and an inquiry was ordered into the incident.

YSR Congress had also demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
