Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh BJP unit is holding a state-level conference on July 23 on the issue of prevailing power scenario in the southern state.

"Andhra Pradesh is facing a severe power crisis resulting in closing of industries which would impede development of the state," state unit president G Kishen Reddy told reporters on Saturday.

Gujarat Power Minister Saurabhbhai Patel will inaugurate the conference which would be attended by power experts, representatives of various NGOs and consumers, he said.

On Telangana movement, Reddy said the BJP would soon come up with a new programnme in support of separate statehood.

When asked if the party would extend support to the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), which has announced stepping up the agitation for the separate state from August one, Reddy said, "we did not attend the meeting when TJAC has taken a decision".

He, however, said the party would discuss the issue and take a final decision shortly.

Referring to the July 19 Presidential election, Reddy appealed to the Telangana MPs and MLAs, irrespective of party affiliation, to vote against Pranab Mukherjee for "failing" the people of Telangana.
