Centre`s panel on Telangana not to furnish interim report

The Srikrishna Committee, appointed by the Centre to look into the Telangana issue, will not furnish any interim report but aims to submit its findings as per schedule.

Hyderabad: The Srikrishna Committee,
appointed by the Centre to look into the Telangana issue, will
not furnish any interim report but aims to submit its findings
as per schedule.

"There will be no interim report. We expect to
complete the work very much on schedule (December 31)," B N
Srikrishna, Head of the Committee, told reporters here today
at the end of a two-day visit to the city.
The committee heard the views of Praja Rajyam, CPI(M)
and CPI during the visit. While Praja Rajyam and CPI(M) stand
for united Andhra Pradesh, CPI supports a separate Telangana.

"We had useful interaction with the Praja Rajyam, CPI,
and CPI(M). They have given us useful inputs. Of course, each
party has its own way of looking at the problem, its own
perceived solution. They are yet to be analysed. On the basis
of all the inputs, we will take some view," Srikrishna said.

The five-member panel has so far heard the views of
TRS, Praja Rajyam, CPI(M) and CPI. It will hold consultations
with ruling Congress and main Opposition TDP on May 6 and 7.

Asked what will be the main criteria for the panel in
taking the final decision -- whether sentiments of the people
or opinions of political parties, the former Supreme Court
Judge said the committee is looking into the whole issue.
"Sentiments don`t come out of no where. Sentiments are
on account of historical reasons, political reasons and
economic reasons," he said.
