Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu will camp in New Delhi on August 9 and 10 to drum up support of national political parties on issues like farmers' plight and corruption including the Lokpal Bill.

Chandrababu plans to meet leaders of CPI, CPM and other major parties and enlist their support to his party's fight on these issues.

TDP has been demanding a stronger Lokpal Bill by bringing the Prime Minister under its ambit.

Chandrababu said the Lokpal Bill tabled in the Parliament is totally "toothless" and intended at fooling the people, adding it would further erode the dignity of political leaders in the country.

"Along with a strong Lokpal, we need laws to bring about political reforms and electoral reforms. Let us all (parties) sit together and discuss these things and build a corruption- free nation," Chandrababu said.

The former chief minister will also raise farmers' issues with leaders of various parties.

He pointed out that farmers in the Godavari Delta region, known as the rice bowl, were forced to voluntarily declare a "crop holiday" this Kharif season as they failed to sell their Rabi produce. This reflects government's gross neglect of the agriculture sector and apathy to the ryots' plight, he said.

The TDP would bring pressure on the Government of India to get the M S Swaminathan Committee recommendations, in respect of remunerative prices for farm produce, implemented.
