`Congress promoting political dynasty culture`

YSR Congress accused the Congress party of promoting the culture of political dynasty in the country.

Vijayawada: YSR Congress on Tuesday accused the Congress party of promoting the culture of political dynasty in the country.

YSR Congress party`s Vijaywada convenor and former legislator Jaleel Khan on Tuesday said post-Independence, the country had been mostly ruled by political dynasties and foremost among them was the Nehru-Gandhi family.

"Even in the Opposition, political dynasties prevailed. Even now, some states are being ruled by political dynasties," he said.

He also alleged that many leaders in Congress were actually only "political heirs".

He denied Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad`s alleged statement that YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was eager to become the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh after the demise of his father and former chief minister Dr Rajasekhara Reddy.

Khan claimed that Jagan did never had ambitions to become the chief minister.

Jaleel Khan also criticised Azad for his alleged comments against the "corrupt regime" of former chief minister Dr Rajasekhara Reddy.

He also criticised the Congress party for its "lack of commitment" over minority reservation issue.
