`Division of Andhra no solution to Telangana problems`

Division of Andhra is not a solution to the backwardness of Telangana region, and all contentious issues regarding demand for the separate state can be resolved through dialogue.

Hyderabad: Division of Andhra Pradesh is not
a solution to the backwardness of Telangana region, and all
contentious issues regarding demand for the separate state can
be resolved through dialogue, ruling Congress legislators from
non-Telangana region told the Sri Krishna Committee today.

"Division is no solution. Division of state is not just
about dividing assets but also human relations. All problems
can be sorted out by discussing the issues across the table,"
Congress Whip S Sailajanath told reporters here.

"Even when `Jai Andhra` movement (for a separate Andhra
state minus Telangana) was at its peak, Indira Gandhiji made
it clear that there was no question of dividing Andhra
Pradesh," he said after a meeting with the Sri Krishna
Committee on Telangana.

Few other groups also met the members of the Committee
today.

Another group of Congress MLAs, MLCs and other leaders
made a comprehensive presentation to the panel members
yesterday.

"If any region is backward, then it should be rectified.
Creation of new states is not a solution. Problems will only
increase with the creation of new states," senior Congress MLA
J C Diwakar Reddy said yesterday after meeting with the
Committee.

The state ministers from non-Telangana regions are
scheduled to meet the Committee members tomorrow. The panel is
on a three-day visit to the city since yesterday.
