R R Girish Kumar takes charge as new Andhra DGP

Senior IPS officer R R Girish Kumar on Wednesday assumed charge as the new Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh.

Kumar on Wednesday assumed charge as the new Director General of
Police of Andhra Pradesh.

Kumar, a 1976 batch officer, was the Director General of
state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and was appointed in place
of S S P Yadav.

He has served as Superintendent of Police, Deputy
Inspector General, Inspector General, besides the Deputy
Commissioner of Police of South Zone in city.

Kumar told reporters that terrorism and extremism, the
main cause of concern for the state, will be dealt
effectively.

"These two problems (terrorism and extremism) requires
constant vigilance from all law enforcement agencies, besides
there was a need for a lot of coordination between central and
state agencies to tackle them effectively," the new DGP said.
