Suspected Maoists have killed two tribals in remote Kotagunnulu village of the district, police said on Sunday.

Visakhapatnam: Suspected Maoists have killed two tribals in remote Kotagunnulu village of the district, police said on Sunday.

Two tribals, P Srikanth and P Prasad (both in their late 20s), were believed to have been hacked to death by axe and other sharp weapons by a group of Maoists at the village late
last night, Visakhapatnam (Rural) District Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal told a news agency.

"Both the tribals died on the spot," the SP said.
Police suspect that the Maoists from Andhra-Orissa border might have carried out the killings as one of the victim Srikanth, an accused in a murder case and presently out on
bail, allegedly worked as a pseudo Naxal and indulged in extortion.

A police team has been dispatched to the village and further investigations were underway, the SP said.
