Bihar Appropriation Bill (four) 2009 passed by voice vote

In the absence of a noisy Opposition, the Bihar Appropriation Bill totalling over Rs 2,784.78 crore was passed by voice-vote on Wednesday.

Patna: In the absence of the Opposition that had staged a noisy walk-out following rejection of privilege notice against police officials of Patna for "unwarranted
lathicgharge" on LJP workers on December 17, the Bihar Appropriation Bill totalling over Rs 2,784.78 crore was passed by voice-vote.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who also holds
the finance portfolio, pilotted the Bill and sought its
approval as the fund was aimed at taking up development
activities in Bihar.
Meanwhile, the House could not take up the special debate
on price rise as Ram Chandra Purve, chief whip of the RJD
refused to move the resolution saying that the ambit of debate
was limited to price rise but the government also added
poverty to divert the issue.
The RJD later staged a walkout to protest state
government`s unilateral decision to add the word "poverty"
when the debate was only limited to price rise.
