Bihar earthquake: Generous donations continue to pour in CM's relief fund

Some Bihar ministers, JD(U) MLCs and MLAs on Sunday contributed to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for relief work among the quake-affected people, an official release said.

Patna: Some Bihar ministers, JD(U) MLCs and MLAs on Sunday contributed to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for relief work among the quake-affected people, an official release said.

State Excise minister Awadesh Prasad Kushwaha handed over a cheque for Rs 2.11 lakh to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as contribution to the Fund, while state Health minister Ramdhani Singh contributed Rs 1.51 lakh, the release said.

JD(U) MLC Vijay Kumar Mishra gave a cheque for Rs 1.40 lakh, while his party's fellow MLC Hulas Pandey chipped in with Rs 1.41 lakh, it said.

Another JD(U) MLC Uday Kant Chaudhary donated Rs 1.11 lakh and a party MLA Sunil Pandey gave Rs one lakh, the release said.

State information commissioner Arun Kumar Verma contributed Rs 1.25 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, while Akhileshwar Singh, who is the president of Jainagar Chamber of Commerce, donated Rs 1.01 lakh followed by a contribution of Rs 51,000 by Shashi Bharti on behalf of the Bihar Administrative Service Officers' wives' association, it said.

The Chief Minister has appealed to the people to contribute towards relief works for the quake victims.
