Five killed, 6 injured as train hits truck in Raxaul

Five persons were killed and six others injured, three of them seriously, when a train hit a truck at an unmanned level crossing and derailed at Chikni in Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar.

in Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border in Bihar`s East Champaran
district today, police said.

The accident occurred when 216 Narkatiganj-Barginiya
passenger train was crossing the rail line this afternoon, the
police said.

All the five died on the spot. Their bodies were brought
here for autopsy.

The injured were admitted to a hospital here where the
condition of three was stated to be critical, they said.

The engine of the train derailed following the collision,
the police said and added that the rail traffic in the
Raxaul-Barginia section of the East Central Railway was
disrupted for several hours as a result.
