Gaya doctor ‘abduction’: Bihar unit of IMA threatens agitation

With the police clueless about the suspected kidnapping of a prominent doctor from Gaya, the Bihar unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) threatened, Monday, to launch an agitation.

Patna: With the police clueless about the suspected kidnapping of a prominent doctor from Gaya, the Bihar unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) threatened, Monday, to launch an agitation.

The IMA body has given Bihar Police 72 hours to crack the case; else they will launch an agitation against the police and government.

 A prominent Gaya doctor Pankaj Gupta, along with his wife, were suspectedly kidnapped yesterday while they were returning home from a marriage of a relative in Giridih in Jharkhand and went traceless as he entered into Gaya district.

The City Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar said as per complaint lodged by his brother, the doctor responded to a telephone call from his compounder in the afternoon when he said he was near Barhi under Barachatti police station area of Gaya.

But, after that when the compounder again called him to remind him that several patients were waiting for him he did not respond as his mobile was switched off, the SP said.

A case of suspected kidnapping has been registered with Barachatti police station in this regard, the City SP added.

Gupta, whose family owns Hero Honda agency in Gaya, was also a member of Gaya Chamber of Commerce.
