Kaiser for release of arrested farmers

Bihar Congress chief Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser demanded unconditional release of 17 arrested peasants.

Patna: Bihar Congress chief Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser on Monday condemned the lathicharge on farmers protesting "inadequate" compensation for their land for a thermal power project in Aurangabad district and demanded unconditional release of 17 arrested peasants.
The farmers were arrested yesterday on charges of destroying public property including those of the Railways and obstructing government work during their protest on Saturday.
Kaiser urged the state government to ensure that the farmers get due compensation for their land acquired for the power project.
