RJD for speedy trial against Ministers, MLAs

The RJD demanded that speedy trial be ensured against the state ministers and MLAs involved in serious criminal cases.

Patna: Alleging that law and order in Bihar
had touched its lowest ebb during the last six months after
the NDA led by Nitish Kumar was voted to power, the RJD on Thursday
demanded that speedy trial be ensured against the state
ministers and MLAs involved in serious criminal cases.
"The law and order situation in Bihar has touched its
lowest ebb during the last six months after the NDA was voted
to power in November last year," Leader of Opposition in the
state assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui told reporters here.

Referring to senior BJP MLA Ramadhar Singh, who had to
resign as Cooperative Minister after RJD petitioned Governor
Devanand Konwar, that Singh was an absconder in the eye of law
since 1995.

"It is a matter of great surprise when Chief Minister
boasts upon establishing the rule of law, he got Singh
inducted in his cabinet instead of getting him arrested," the
RJD leader said.
He demanded that the state government ensure speedy trial
of cases against ruling NDA MLAs and ministers facing serious
criminal cases.

He said Chief Minister should apologise for his JD(U) MLA
Ramsevak Singh who had recently beat up two people in full
public view in Gopalganj.
