Patna: Senior journalist attached to a
national daily Amarnath Tiwari escaped with multiple injuries
in an attack by unidentified persons at an apartment in
Rajendra Nagar locality in Kankerbagh police station in
the state capital on Friday, police sources said.
Tiwari was attacked with sticks and rods by three to four
unknown persons when he was pouring water on plants and
flowers on the lawn of the apartment where he stays, sources
said.
Tiwari was soon rushed to a nearby nursing home, they
said.
The police suspected that he was attacked following
differences among the officer bearers of the association of
the apartment who were opposed to Tiwari`s suggestions for
changing the secretary of the association, sources said.
An FIR was registered by Kadamkuan police station in this
connection, sources said.
Meanwhile, several politicians, including state Food and
Consumer affairs Minister Shyam Rajak, Bihar youth Congress
president Lalan Kumar, former MP Ranjit Ranjan and Congress
legislature party leader in the state assembly Sadanand Singh
condemned the incident and called for security for the scribe
and his family.
