Patna: Senior journalist attached to a national daily Amarnath Tiwari escaped with multiple injuries in an attack by unidentified persons at an apartment in Rajendra Nagar locality in Kankerbagh police station in the state capital on Friday, police sources said.

Tiwari was attacked with sticks and rods by three to four unknown persons when he was pouring water on plants and flowers on the lawn of the apartment where he stays, sources said.

Tiwari was soon rushed to a nearby nursing home, they said.

The police suspected that he was attacked following differences among the officer bearers of the association of the apartment who were opposed to Tiwari's suggestions for changing the secretary of the association, sources said.

An FIR was registered by Kadamkuan police station in this connection, sources said.

Meanwhile, several politicians, including state Food and Consumer affairs Minister Shyam Rajak, Bihar youth Congress president Lalan Kumar, former MP Ranjit Ranjan and Congress legislature party leader in the state assembly Sadanand Singh condemned the incident and called for security for the scribe and his family.
