Siwan: 'Shooter' Mohammad Kaif, a suspect in the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan's murder, surrendered before the Siwan court on Wednesday, in an extortion case.

He was sent  to 14 days judicial custody by the court.

On September 16, the police had attached Kaif's property, in connection with case of 'rangdari' (extortion) threat to a private engineering college

A posse of policemen had reached Kaif's house in Dakshin Tola and had executed the property attachment order of the court.

The process had been carried out in presence of his family members.

"Police initiated action of property attachment in accordance with the court order," Siwan Superintendent of Police Saurav Kumar Sah had said.

A case of extortion was registered against Kaif alias Bunty and three others with town police station last month, the SP had added.

Three others accused in the case have already surrendered but Kaif was on the run.

Siwan police had been on the lookout for Kaif ever since a photograph of his with RJD strongman Mohammad Shahbuddin surfaced in the media, after the latter left Bhagalpur jail.

Kaif is a suspect in the killing of scribe in May this year in Siwan and was reportedly absconding along with Mohammad Javed, another suspect.
