Patna: Congress on Friday said the UPA
government had provided sufficient funds for Bihar`s
development during the past five years of NDA rule, led by
Nitish Kumar, and cited the `performance report card`
presented by the Chief Minister for the period upto June 2010.
"The Centre has provided sufficient funds to the state
for carrying forward development," state Congress media cell
chief Pram Chandra Mishra told reporters.
He said even the Nitish Kumar government had admitted
this fact in its report cards for the period up to June 2010.
While the state`s earning was pegged at Rs 9,000 crore
per annum, the state government had spent nearly Rs 36,000
crore on development works, Mishra said and claimed that it
was because of the huge central assistance given o the state.
Kumar rubbished the charge of BJP leader Arun Jaitley
that the Congress and RJD were `hand-in-glove` and would join
hand after the elections.
Mishra said AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would
be addressing a series of election meetings in Bihar on
October 25 before the proposed visit of Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi later this
month.
He said Congress got good response in the first round
of electoral battle in 47 seats yesterday and was sure to win
around 20-22 seats.
