Chennai: It's really shocking as prestigious IIT Madras has witnessed two suicide cases in less than 24 hours!
Panic gripped IIT Madras campus on Wednesday after two women committed suicide in separate incidents.
One of the two was identified as a post-doctoral fellow at IIT Madras - P Maheshwari (34), while the other was G Vijayalakshmi (47), wife of a professor.

G Vijayalakshmi's husband Ganesan is an assistant professor of Physics. Her family is in deep shock over the incident. She was spotted hanging.
P Maheshwari was staying at room number 814 of Sabarmathi hostel. She was pursuing a post doctoral fellowship course in Chemistry.
Reportedly, she was found hanging in her room around 5 PM by her hostel mates. She was married.
Maheshwari is a native of Puducherry and has a six-year-old son.
Kotturpuram Police has registered a case of suspicious death under section 174 of CrPC.
IIT Madras has expressed deep sadness over their demise.
