Two Naxals surrender in Chhattisgarh's Bastar

Two Maoists, including a woman, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bastar district, police said on Thursday.

Raipur: Two Maoists, including a woman, surrendered in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bastar district, police said on Thursday.

The cadres, carrying cash rewards, turned themselves in before senior police officials yesterday, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, SRP Kalluri told a news agency.

They were identified as Haldhar Korram (20), Deputy Commander of Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) in East Bastar Division and Madkam Mukke alias Geeta Konta, an LGS member.

 

Both were prominent cadres of the region and involved in several Naxal incidents, including attacks on police parties and murder, he said.

While Haldhar was carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh, Rs 1 lakh was announced for Geeta's arrest, the IG said. They will be provided necessary assistance as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government, he added.
