Congress accuses BJP of taking U turn on OROP

The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress on Sunday accused the BJP of taking U turn on the issue of one rank one pension (OROP) for the ex-servicemen.

Vijaypur: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Congress on Sunday accused the BJP of taking U turn on the issue of one rank one pension (OROP) for the ex-servicemen.

"The union government must immediately implement one rank one pension for the ex servicemen, they are the people who selflessly served the nation," State general secretary of the party and former Minister Manjit Singh said.

Singh was speaking at a meeting with the ex servicemen in Vijaypur assembly constituency here.

The ex servicemen expressed concern over the "delaying tactics" of the NDA Government in implementing the OROP.

Referring to their demands, Manjit Singh said that during the regime of UPA, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had also agreed to the demand of the ex-servicemen for its implementation across the country.

BJP had promised to implement OROP during election rallies but after the saffron party came to power, they forget their own promises.

Singh said if the demands of the ex-soldiers were not accepted by the Modi Government, they would be forced to come on roads.
