New Delhi: Cases of 89,156 multiple entries and 1,20,605 image duplication have come to the notice of Delhi's Chief Electoral Office during the summary revision of electoral rolls in Delhi.

In cases of identical photos, they were corrected or removed in 64,000 cases while 49,444 cases have been put in ASD (absentee, shifted, or duplicate or dead) list.

Similarly, in multiple entries, 29,785 cases have been deleted and 17,411 cases were put in ASD list, said a statement issued by Delhi's Chief Electoral Office.

The discrepancies were detected by booth-level officers during a special 'IT-enabled application and field verification' process to identify false electorate.

According to Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Chandra Bhushan Kumar, there are around 66,855 names in the ASD list out of which 50,000 have been issued notices by the respective electoral research officers for appropriate action as per law.

The EC also allowed suo motu deletion after following due process of notice in cases which were found to be questioned after the field verification, the official said.

All the district election officers have already apprised the political parties about these rectification steps, said the CEO's office.
