AAP dares BJP to face fresh polls in Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday dared the BJP to face fresh polls in Delhi instead of forming a minority government in the capital.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday dared the BJP to face fresh polls in Delhi instead of forming a minority government in the capital.

Amid reports that the President has given nod to the Delhi LG to explore all options on government formation, AAP leader Manish Sisodia said Najeeb Jung should not invite BJP to form government as the latter has been indulging in horse trading.

“LG must rethink on the matter... we have given him evidences of BJP's horse trading. Why does he want such a government for Delhi?” Sisodia said.

“BJP must show some guts, dissolve Delhi Assembly and say yes for elections in Delhi,” he added.

The BJP, meanwhile, hit back at the AAP.

BJP's Sambit Patra said, “Public gave him (Arvind Kejriwal) the mandate to form government but in a hurry to become PM, he left the people of Delhi. Now he has rushed back to Delhi thinking people will support him; that will not be the case.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Congress leader JP Aggarwal asked how could the LG invite BJP to form government when the party doesn't have the required numbers.

“He (LG) is definitely under pressure. How can he invite them (BJP) to form government when they don't even have the numbers to prove majority?” Aggarwal asked.

“The work that should have been done by the LG was not done properly. He gave BJP time for horse trading,” the Congress leader added.
