New Delhi: AAP government is violating Supreme Court's guidelines on government advertisement by spending huge sums of public money to run ads in other states criticising the Centre, Congress leader Ajay Maken on Tuesday told Delhi High Court.

Maken made the submission in an affidavit in which he has referred to recent newspaper advertisements taken out by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, in other states, berating the Centre for transferring officers of GNCTD.

The ads also say that the Centre has not cleared bills of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), the affidavit, placed before a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, said.

The affidavit was filed in Maken's plea, which is one of four that have been moved against the advertisements issued by the AAP government. The petitions alleged that the ads have been issued in violation of the guidelines.

The matters were listed for further hearing on August 4.

Maken in his affidavit has also stated that he had made a representation before the three-member committee, set up to monitor content of government ads, to take action against Delhi government for violating apex court guidelines on advertisements and to restrain it from issuing such ads.

However, despite repeated follow ups, till date the panel has not taken any action on his representation, Maken said.
