AAP's Political Affairs Committee to meet soon

After AAP's landslide victory in the Delhi assembly polls, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will meet this week to take a call on the party's future course of action.

New Delhi: After AAP's landslide victory in the Delhi assembly polls, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will meet this week to take a call on the party's future course of action.

Although Delhi chief minister and AAP's National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made his stand clear that his party would focus on the national capital, many leaders feel that the party should expand in other states, using Delhi's success as the launch pad.

The PAC, the top decision-making body in the party, will meet in next two days, party sources said.

"There have been different views in the party on what should be our strategy. This requires a lot of debating," said a senior party leader.

After the Delhi assembly poll results, there has been no discussion in the party about its future course of action. The last meeting was held to discuss the Council of Ministers and even Kejriwal was unwell for most of the past week.

While Kejriwal, in his speech after swearing in, has said that the party would only focus on Delhi for the next five years, another senior party leader Yogendra Yadav, in his interactions with the media, has said that the party plans to focus on 4-5 states.

Another section is of opinion that the party should focus on Punjab, a state which has four AAP MPs and also has "strong anti-incumbency" for ruling Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP and favourbale conditions for the AAP. The party is not planning to contest Bihar elections.

However, there is a demand for contesting Municipal Corporation polls in Mumbai and Bangalore, where the party has a base.

"We have to take a call on the divergent views we have. Secondly, we also need to take some decisions related to the organisation.

"We also need to take into account our limited resources and the strength of organisation in different states" the sources said.
