Advocate arrested by CBI for taking bribe

CBI arrested a lawyer on the charge of taking bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a man to settle his criminal case with the help of an officer of Delhi government`s Anti-Corruption Branch.

of taking bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a man to settle his
criminal case with the help of an officer of Delhi
government`s Anti-Corruption Branch.

Advocate Ashish Kumar Rajput was produced before a court
today which sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

Rajput was arrested yesterday by CBI sleuths in a trap
while allegedly taking the bribe money from a complainant.
He was produced before Special CBI Judge N K Sharma after
the end of his one-day police custody.

The court sent Rajput, who practised at Karkardooma
courts, to judicial custody till September 23 in a case
registered under Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC.

CBI had registered the FIR on September seven against
Rajput and Inspector of Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi
government Manoj Kumar on a complaint by Amreek Singh, Delhi
police constable, who alleged the lawyer had demanded Rs three
lakh, claiming that he could get him acquitted in the
corruption case investigated by Kumar.

Rajput was arrested when he came allegedly to take part
payment of the bribe amount. The complainant also recorded his
conversation with the accused.

CBI is still investigating the role of Inspector Kumar and
has yet not arrested him.
