New Delhi: Delhi's Environment and Food and Supplies Minister Asim Ahmed Khan was on Friday sacked by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over charges of corruption.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief announced that the case has been referred to CBI.
Sacked Delhi minister Asim Ahmed Khan was born in Delhi.
He did his schooling from Jain Sr Sec School, Darya Ganj, Delhi and graduation from Ch Charan Singh University.
He was elected from Assembly Constituency Matia Mahal, Assembly Constituency - 21 in the recent 2015 Delhi Assembly Elections.
He worked as Minister of Environment & Forest, Food and Supply and Election, in the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government.
Announcing the sacking at a press conference where he played a recorded tape of a conversation purportedly between Khan and the builder, Kejriwal said the case was being referred to the CBI.
Speaking to reporters, the AAP chief said, “We had received a complaint, assessed it and have decided to remove Asim Ahmed from the Cabinet.”
The complainant has sent us a one hour long audio clip, I and Manish Sisodia listened to that audio clip, we did preliminary assessment of that and prima facie found it to be of serious nature, Kejriwal told reporters.
Ballimaran MLA Imran Hussain will now replace the sacked minister.
