New Delhi: A businessman was shot dead by
another in the national capital at the latter`s shop following
an argument over money, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place in a footwear market in north
Delhi`s Inderlok area last night and the deceased has been
identified as Jaswinder. The victim`s brother Ranjit Singh was
also injured in the incident.

Jaswinder and his brother had gone to another shop in
the market owned by one Naresh, who allegedly owed some money
to the former.

"There was some tension between both the businessmen
over monetary issues for the past one year. Naresh owed some
money to Jaswinder and according to Ranjit, the former did not
return it despite repeated requests," a senior police official
said.

Last night, the official said, the brothers went to
Naresh and demanded the money back. An argument followed and
Naresh allegedly opened fire at Jaswinder with his licenced
revolver.

"Jaswinder was hit thrice. He died on the spot. Ranjit
also suffered injuries in the scuffle. Naresh`s brother Rajesh
and another brother were also involved in the scuffle," the
official said.

Naresh and Rajesh were overpowered by other
shopkeepers who handed them over to police while their brother
managed to flee from the scene.

A case has been registered and efforts are on to
arrest the absconding brother.
