New Delhi: Four labourers who were seriously injured when an under-construction foot overbridge collapsed near the main venue of the Commonwealth Games are still critical and showing "no signs of improvement", doctors said Wednesday, a day after the accident.

"Four of them are still critical. We are observing them closely," All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre's chief medical officer M.C. Mishra told IANS.

As many as 27 labourers were injured Tuesday when the elevated pedstrian crossing the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium collapsed.

"Of the 19 injured admitted to the AIIMS, 14 were discharged Tuesday and others will be discharged today (Wednesday)," Mishra said.

"The remaining four have spinal fractures. They will be kept in the hospital. Only after monitoring them for another week, we will take a decision," he said.

Four other injured were taken to the Safdarjung Hospital and were stated to be stable.

The accident came as a major blow to India's preparations for the Games, with the concerned authorities drawing flak from all corners.

Some 7,000 participants and officials from 71 countries and territories are expected to attend the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games, India's biggest sporting event after the 1982 Asian Games.

there is a least respect for the life of common citizen of india particularly the poor. i don`t belive the 4 labourers who have suffred spinal injuries and are critical will ever get the best treatment available under the roof because they are poor.it seems that poor are born to die like this. the culprit will not be booked be it the contractor or the principal employer. this incident shows that our labour ministry is just a defunct ministry. this ministry must be ashamed of themselve for not doing its duties to safeguard the interest of labourers in india.

it is just the begining of the major collapse. the shoddy work is begining to show-off. mr. kalmadi thinks that putting the infrastructure just by the eleventh hour will show his managerial skills and will keep the infra for next two weeks for the games is really a flimsy idea.

ofcourse! rain god is not happy with his ideas and is hell bent to expose the dirty plans of his.
