Delhi govt to table six bills during Budget session

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party government will table six bills, including Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, during a six-day Budget session of the Delhi Assembly beginning on Tuesday.

The government is also likely to table School Fee Regulation Bill during the session which is scheduled to be held from June 23 to June 30.

"The Delhi Budget will be tabled for remaining nine months of the current financial years on June 25 while economic survey tabled on June 24," said a Delhi government spokesperson.

The other bills to be tabled are -- Netaji Subhash Information Technology Bill (NSIT), 2015; Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement (Amendment) Bill, VAT (Amendment) Bill, Delhi Legislative Assembly members (prevention of disqualification) (Amendment) Bill and Delhi Appropriation Bill, the spokesman said.

In today's cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, it was decided to amend the Section 2(g) of DUSIB Act which will facilitate rehabilitation of those jhuggi jhopri basties that might have come between March 31, 2002 and 1 January, 2006.

"Another proposal to give the status of a university to the NSIT was also passed by the cabinet," a senior government official said.

NSIT's Up-gradation to University status will result in considerable increase in the intake of students at UG, PG and PhD levels over a period of time (approx 12,000 students on the campus as against strength of around 3500 at present), the official added.
