New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee's daughter Sharmistha, who is contesting the upcoming Delhi assembly elections on a Congress ticket, on Wednesday stated that her father's goodwill would help her win.
"The Congress will re-emerge far stronger, that's why I joined the party. I am sure my father's goodwill is going to help me somewhere, fulfilling people's needs is a huge responsibility," said Sharmishta, who is running from the Greater Kailash constituency.
Sharmishta had filed her nomination papers earlier in the day, along with other bigwigs like Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP candidate Krishna Tirath.
The scrutiny of nominations will take place on January 22, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 24.
The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10.
