New Delhi: A court here has ordered
registration of an FIR into impounding of two cars of a person
by some Delhi policemen here and asked the crime branch of the
Delhi police to probe the incident.

"At this stage, prima facie, it appears that there are
grounds to investigate the alleged misappropriation and
criminal breach of trust regarding the property belonging to
Jamshed Alam," Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay
Pandey said.

"I direct the registration of FIR into the allegations
made by the complainant. Since the allegations are made
against the local police, the investigation into the matter be
conducted by the Crime Branch," the court said.

The court`s order came on an application of Khan
seeking release of his two vehicles which were allegedly
impounded by the policemen of Parliament Street police station
on October 22 outside Mavalankar Hall here.

Khan contradicted the police version that the vehicles
were abandoned.

The court considered the flip-flops in the police
versions of the incident. They had first said the vehicles
were impounded under a provisions of the Delhi Police Act.

However, police, in their replies to Khan`s plea, said the
vehicles have been impounded under various other provisions of
the IPC, dealing with carrying token used by public servants
and forgery.

They also said vehicles carried government logo on them.
Alam had approached the court earlier also seeking
release of his impounded vehicles.

Police had then told the court that the vehicles could
be released by the ACP.

Alam had then withdrawn his application from the court
and later approached the police which allegedly released only
one vehicle.

The court took a serious note of non-release of the
vehicles on the ground that it has been impounded for using
government symbol on it.
Alam claimed Rs 8 lakh was also lying in one of the
impounded vehicles.
