New Delhi: Heavy rain accompanied by
lightning and hailstones lashed the national capital this
evening affecting vehicular movement across the city.

The rains started at around 5:30 pm accompanied by
lightning and hailstones.

The weatherman had yesterday predicted that the city
would receive showers this evening.

Delhiites woke up to a pleasant morning today with the
minimum temperature settling at 11.7 degree celsius which was
two notches above normal. The Met office attributed the rise
in minimum temperature to the cloud cover over the city.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degrees.

This is the highest rainfall during the month of
February in the past three years. On the intervening night of
February eight and nine, the rain guages had measured 14.8 mm.

Last February it rained 4.7 mm while in 2008, the
rain guages measured 3.1 mm in February. However, 2007 got the
highest of 76.2 mm rain in the same month, which is the record
for this decade.

For tomorrow, the weatherman has predicted mainly
clear sky with minimum and maximum temperature to be
around 14 and 23 degree celsius respectively.
