Initiatives, decisions taken by Arvind Kejriwal`s govt will continue: Lt Governor

Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has directed the government officials to continue the initiatives and decisions taken by Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government.

New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has directed the government officials to continue the initiatives and decisions taken by Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government.

Lt Governor, who is now administering Delhi after President`s rule was imposed, and told the officials that the initiatives taken by the AAP government such as 50 percent subsidy on power tariff, free water and the anti-corruption helpline should continue.
During the meeting, the decisions taken by the AAP led government in the 49 days of its power were discussed and it was decided that all initiatives launched by it will continue. "The initiatives like the 1031 anti-corruption helpline number, Public grievance system, 50 per cent subsidy on power tariff and providing 667 litres of free water daily for domestic consumption to each household having metered connection in Delhi will continue," said Sanjiv Kumar, Director of Directorate of Information & Publicity (DIP).

Top officials said the 50 percent subsidy to those limiting their monthly power consumption to 400 units will continue till March 31 as an appropriation bill earmarking Rs 372 crore as subsidy dues to power distribution companies was cleared by the assembly on the day AAP government had resigned.
Jung also directed that the Public Grievance Management System launched recently should function properly at the Delhi Secretariat and all officers should ensure that grievances are settled in a time-bound manner.

He said that with president`s rule in force, senior administration officers should ensure all steps are taken towards speedy delivery of various services and good governance is provided to citizens.

Jung also directed the officers for proper maintenance and supervision of night shelters. He also said a special team of officials should regularly inspect hospitals to ensure public are getting all services.

Instructing the departments of Trade and Taxes, Excise, Transport and Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Jung laid emphasis that all steps should be taken to achieve revenue collection targets within the given time frame.

Moreover, Irrigation and Flood control, MCD and PWD among others were directed to prepare monsoon action plan and conduct desilting of drains, even as Delhi Jal Board was asked to ensure proper water supply in summer season.
