Metro services delayed on Line 3

In second such incident in two days, metro services on the over-crowded Line 3 were delayed for over 30 minutes Saturday due to a technical problem caused by sudden rains, causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters.

New Delhi: In second such incident in two
days, metro services on the over-crowded Line 3 were delayed
for over 30 minutes today due to a technical problem caused by sudden rains, causing inconvenience to thousands of commuters during the evening rush hour.

Trains on Line-3 (Dwarka Sec-9-Noida City Centre/
Anand Vihar) were delayed by over 30 minutes due to a
technical problem on the line. DMRC officials attributed the
delay to a problem caused by the sudden rains that lashed the
national capital this evening.

The delay caused severe inconvenience to thousands of
passengers who travel on the over-crowded line. Huge queues
were seen at Rajiv Chowk Station, one of the busiest and
major intersection stations of the metro network.

Though DMRC said the delay was only for about 30
minutes, passengers alleged that trains were running late by
about an hour.

This is the second such incident in as many days as a
track circuit failure led to delay in services on Thursday.

The problem was attributed to track circuit failure at
some points in Dwarka Sector-12-Kirti Nagar section. A Metro
official said the failure was due to rains, delaying trains
for about 25-30 minutes from 5.30 pm.

Anjali, a media professional, said Rohini East station
was closed when she went there around 7 pm to catch a metro
train for her night shift. "I was shocked to see the doors
shut. No one was there to tell why it was shut and other
details."
