National Green Tribunal bans parking on Delhi metalled roads

Owners of cars and other vehicles in national capital New Delhi will be asked to pay a fine of Rs 1000 if they violate a National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on parking on metalled roads.

New Delhi: Owners of cars and other vehicles in national capital New Delhi will be asked to pay a fine of Rs 1000 if they violate a National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on parking on metalled roads.

Traffic Police in Delhi has been directed by a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar to comply with this ban order with immediate effect.

The NGT bench has asked the police to take strict action against any person violating their direction.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority and the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT) have been asked to hold a meeting to identify the places where multi-level parking can be constructed and parking can be permitted.
