NHRC issues notices to HRD Ministry and Delhi Police

National Human Rights Commission on Thursday issued notices to HRD ministry and Delhi Police in connection with the incident where the boundary wall of the Kendriya Vidyalaya collapsed in central Delhi's Gole Market killing one person and injuring three others.

New Delhi: National Human Rights Commission on Thursday issued notices to HRD ministry and Delhi Police in connection with the incident where the boundary wall of the Kendriya Vidyalaya collapsed in central Delhi's Gole Market killing one person and injuring three others.

According to an official statement released today, the commission has issued notices to the Secretary, Department of School Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development and Delhi Police Commissioner calling for a factual report in the matter within two weeks.

Dhulichand (50), a resident of Jhuggi cluster at Kali Bari Marg and Kamla Prasad (50), Sandeep and Kanchan, both aged 35, were sitting at roadside barber and tea shops, when the boundary wall of Kendriya Vidyalaya, near Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital collapsed on them on March 12.

All the injured were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital located a few meters away. Doctors at the hospital declared Dhulichand brought dead.

The two others were stated to be critical. Another suffered minor injuries.

The Commission has observed that the contents of media reports, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims.
