New Delhi: A 32-year-old notorious criminal, who was wanted in 36 criminal cases including murder, robbery, dacoity and carrying a reward of Rs 25000 on his head, and his associate were arrested.
The criminal Gaurav, arrested by Special Cell, was involved in four murder cases and has been committing crime since 2000 at regular intervals.
Police have also arrested Gaurav's associate Vishal acting on a tip-off and recovered one country made pistol of .315 bore alongwith two live cartridges from Gaurav's possession.
"We got information that Gaurav and Vishwal were coming towards Maya Enclave yesterday on a bike. Acting on tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested the duo," said a senior police official.
The official said that Gaurav along with his associates had committed two sensational crimes within 20 days.
Gaurav was previously involved in 36 criminal cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity, assault on public servant, criminal intimidation, arms act and theft.
"On 11 November, Gaurav along with his friends Rishi, Shaka, Sandeep, Jitender, Aman, Lallu and few others armed with deadly weapons assaulted family members of one Rakesh causing severe injuries to them. Rakesh succumbed to his injuries after two days. Condition of Vinod is still critical as he is still in hospital," he added.
He also said that a proposal for declaration of reward of Rs 1 lakh upon arrest of Gaurav was sent in this case which is still pending.
