'Send Bhagwant Mann to rehab centre for drug and alcohol de-addiction'

The 9-member panel probing Mann's Parliament video case also appears keen to punish him for the irresponsible act.

'Send Bhagwant Mann to rehab centre for drug and alcohol de-addiction'

New Delhi: A group of MPs have written to the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan requesting that AAP MP Bhagwant Mann should be sent to a rehab centre for drug and alcohol de-addiction.

The group, including Akali Dal's Prem Singh Chandumajra, BJP's Maheish Girri and suspended AAP MP Harinder Singh Khalsa, wrote: “Would be grateful that Bhagwant Mann be sent on a Rehab centre for drugs/alcohol de-addiction by the Lok Sabha on Lok Sabha expenditure.(sic)”

“...Only after that Bhagwant Mann should be allowed to attend the proceedings of the house,” the MPs wrote in the letter.

The move by MPs came even as reports said that Members of the 9-member panel probing Mann's Parliament video case are reportedly upset with him for not taking the enquiry seriously.

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that there is unanimity in the committee that action must be taken against Bhagwant Mann.

“Difference of opinion in committee is on the degree of punishment-reprimand or reprimand with debarring from Parliament session for the specific time,” the source added.

The 'rehab' demand came after many MPs, including former Punjab CM Capt Amrinder Singh, came out in the public alleging that Bhagwant Mann comes drunk to the Parliament.
