Technical snag hits Delhi Metro's Red Line, probe ordered

New Delhi: Services on the Red Line -- Kashmere Gate to Dilshad Garden -- of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) were affected on Friday as a "technical snag" slowed down the trains.

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter. "A three-member committee has been formed to investigate into the OHE (over-head equipment) failure on the Red Line of the DMRC," Rai said in a statement.

"The overhead wire on the Red Line wore out at two places between Kashmere Gate and Dilshad Garden stations, which is being worked out," a DMRC spokesperson told IANS.

Services between these stations later were diverted on a single track, he said, adding that services from Rithala to Tis Hazari stations on the route remained normal.

Services on the Red Line between Kashmere Gate and Dilshad Garden Metro stations were hit for several hours on Friday noon after the OHE cable wore out at two places.

The government has also asked the committee to submit its report within a week to the Delhi government.

The Aam Aadmi Party government's order comes at a crucial time when the second phase of the Odd-even scheme was implemented in the national capital for 15 more days.
