New Delhi: Twenty-four fresh cases of dengue
were reported in the national capital, which have witnessed
two deaths including that of a nine-year-old, today taking the
total number of persons afflicted with the disease to 280.
According to MCD officials, 24 fresh cases were reported
from across the city. The total number of cases this season
has now touched 280.
The first dengue death was reported in the city on
October 23 when a 15-year-old boy succumbed to the
vector-borne disease in AIIMS. The second case was that of a
nine-year-old boy breathing his last yesterday at LNJP.
Though the figure is still far less than last year, when
over 1,000 cases and two deaths were reported, the sudden
surge has left the civic authorities worried.
The MCD has intensified measures to prevent the spread of
dengue and were conducting fogging operations in various
areas, officials said.
