It is believed that photography works mostly on a person’s inspiration to create something new and interesting for the world to see. It is also a passion to capture every tiny detail that is not visible or generally overlooked by the naked eye. The Goa International Photo Festival 2015 is being organised to ignite this inspiration and keep alive the passion of photography that helps to create eye-catching portraits and images.

Arranged by The One School Goa, the festival will be held from February 10 to 21 on its picturesque campus located in Village Uccassaim, Bardez in North Goa. “ I am bringing famous photographers of the world under one roof to facilitate a dialogue with aspirants who look up to them and want to learn more about the art,” says Shantanu Sheorey, head, The One School Goa. Through the festival is Sheorey seeks to discover the next generation of photographers and creative thinkers.

Celebrated international photo artists like David Turnley, William Albert Allard, Anna Fox, Catherine Karnow and Karen Knorr will participate in the festival. Indian professional photographers who will be attending the event are Mahesh Bhat, Prasad Naik and Prashant Godbole to name a few. The One Mag, a digital photography magazine, comprising works of the best photographers in the world, will be inaugurated on February 10 at opening night. “The mag will be a compilation of online entries taken from photo artists across the globe. The visuals weave a story around the topic being photographed,” explains Sheorey. Participants and visitors can indulge in a number of activities like Artist Talks, Portfolio Reviews and Workshops. While the talks are free to all, one needs to register in advance or go through the selection procedure for the reviews and workshops (see box).

Apart from dialogues and talks about creativity, the fest will also showcase exhibitions of photo works by famous photo artists and amateurs. Those interested in showing their photography skill have an opportunity to do so by signing up with ‘Open call’ on https://www.goaphotofestival.com/ . It is an exhibition that calls for entries on the theme of ‘Faith’. Chosen by Aravind Ajaiyabhas, a third-year student of The One School Goa, it looks at the concept of Faith beyond God or religion. “Faith has kept the world together, through the good times and bad. It is faith that makes life beautiful and worth trusting,” explains Ajaiyabhas.

With all that awaits at the festival, it’s time to gather that shutterbug in you and head to Goa for a creative trip.
