New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has extended till May 4 the last date for submission of online application forms for admissions, in view of the earthquake in parts of India and Nepal.

"Keeping in view the earthquake that struck the Himalayan nation and parts of India and the scale of devastation, the university administration has decided to extend the last date of submission of application forms to enable students from affected parts of Nepal and India to complete the process of submission," Jamia spokesperson Mukesh Ranjan said.

"The university had received requests from students from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal for extension of the last date for on-line submission. Many students had flagged technical problems that they confronted while making their applications. A large number of foreign students in Jamia are from Nepal," he added.

The admission process for various undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma/certificate programmes offered by the central university for the academic session 2015-16, began on April 14 and May 1 was announced as the last date.

"Now the last date has been postponed to May 4. However, over 1 lakh registrations have already been made for various courses," Ranjan added.
