BJP demands countermanding of elections in Ferozabad seat

Alleging massive rigging and booth capturing by the ruling Samajwadi Party in Ferozabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh, BJP on Tuesday approached the Election Commission.

New Delhi: Alleging massive rigging and booth capturing by the ruling Samajwadi Party in Ferozabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh, BJP on Tuesday approached the Election Commission and demanded countermanding of the elections in the seat.

"There were massive booth capturing in Ferozabad constituency on the polling day on April 24. We submitted all video clippings showing booth capturing in the constituency to the Election Commission and demanded countermanding of the elections in Ferozabad Lok Sabha seat," BJP leader JP Nadda told reporters after meeting the EC.

Nadda along with Ferozabad BJP candidate SP Singh Baghel met the EC. Samajwadi Party candidate Akshay Yadav is the son of Ram Gopal Yadav, who is a Rajya Sabha MP and brother of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
"We asked EC for either countermanding of polls in the entire constituency or atleast in the Jasrana assembly seat, which is part of the Ferozabad Lok Sabha constituency. We have also sought a review of those booths where more than 80 per cent polling has been done," Nadda said.

Vaghel said instead of paramilitary forces, Home Guards were deployed at certain sensitive booths.
Accusing SP for deteriorating law and order situation in the area, Nadda said "Ferozabad is the epicentre of lawlessness. State administration is under the influence of the political leadership."
Asked about the EC response, Nadda said "EC heard us for 45 minutes and assured us to look into it."
